Dopo una notte tempestosa, nel viaggio di ritorno abbiamo guidato sei ore verso l'aereoporto. Per una buona parte del viaggio il panorama era questo, incontaminato ed intoccato. In dieci giorni l'idea che mi sono fatto della scozia è proprio quello rappresentato in foto, una terra molto bella ed assolutamente da visitare. Tuttavia sarebbe riduttivo classificarla così e basta, in quanto la varietà di paesaggio presente è impressionante, dalla montagna alla spiaggia ma di questo ne parleremo al prossimo scatto.

L'indice KP ci dà un'indicazione della larghezza dell'ovale aurorale e di quanto a sud si può osservare l'aurora. Più alto è il valore KP, maggiore è la possibilità di vedere l'aurora. Il valore Bz misura la direzione del campo magnetico del vento solare quando raggiunge la Terra, e un valore Bz negativo può portare a una maggiore attività aurorale. L'elevata velocità del vento solare e l'elevata densità di protoni possono anche aumentare le possibilità di vedere l'aurora. La combinazione di questi fattori può fornire una migliore indicazione del tipo di attività aurorale da aspettarsi. Un valore KP elevato, un valore Bz negativo, un'elevata velocità del vento solare e una densità di protoni possono provocare aurore forti e danzanti.

Thingeyri (in Icelandic written Þingeyri) is a settlement in the municipality of Ísafjarðarbær, Iceland. It is located on the coast of the fjord Dýrafjörður in the mountainous peninsula Westfjords (in Icelandic written Vestfirðir). It has a population of approximately 260. Continually inhabited since 1787,[3] Þingeyri is one of the oldest settlements in the Westfjords[4] and the first trading post established there.[5][6] It is believed to derive its name from a medieval assembly (þing) and has ruins of a medieval booth believed to have been used by visitors to the assembly.[5] Thanks to its sheltered location Þingeyri developed into a significant fishing center.[4] In the 19th century the French applied for permission to establish a base there to support their fishing operations in the area but were turned down.[4][5] In the years 1884-1898 the town served as the base for American halibut fishing in the region.[3] In 1909 a hospital was founded in the village and in 1910-1911 a church was established.[3] In 1957 an airport for medical transport, with a runway of 300×20 meters, was taken into use.[7] The church of Þingeyri, consecrated in 1911. In 1995, the inhabitants of Þingeyri voted in favor of a merger with Ísafjörður, Suðureyri, Mýrahreppur, Mosvallahreppur and Flateyri to form the new municipality of Ísafjarðarbær. Of the six municipalities involved, Þingeyri had the lowest rate of approval for the merger with 130 voting in favor and 71 voting against.[8] The nearby mountain of Sandfell, accessed by driving or hiking, is a tourist destination known for its scenic view
