Biografia
Matteo Damiani was born in Genoa, Italy in summer 1976, where he is living, but he grew up in Camogli, a little fishing village not far from Genoa. He discovers his passion for photography as he was just a kid for fun, borrowing a camera from his father Gianni and following in the footsteps of his aunt Patrizia, an experienced photographer.
His desire for travelling and his job brought him, over the years, around the world; from Portugal to Scotland, from Iran to Russia, from U.S.A. to China. Gathering through his lenses glimpses of far away lands and faces of fortuitous meetings; forming, shot after shot, his own personal style as a photographer and trying to express with his works what the world tells him.
Self-taught, with infinite desire to learn and grow, he chooses to follow first the photographic workshop held by the Master Franco Fontana, which leads him to reconsider the way he looks through the viewfinder of the SLR, spurred him to experiment tirelessly and to courageously seek his own truth.
In 2013, together with other students of Franco Fontana and the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, exhibited for the first time of of his shots in Turin, Italy, at the Photissima Art Fair.
In 2014, he exhibited at the "Otto Fotografi in Serra" at the Festival Lab in Arenzano, Italy, together with other talented photographers, five images of Isfahan, the ancient capital of Persia.
